At Northern Visions, we believe that art has the power to transform lives, bridge communities, and illuminate untold stories. As a leading open-access arts and digital media centre, our mission is simple yet radical: to blend traditional artistic mediums with cutting-edge technologies, making creativity freely accessible to everyone. Operating from our state-of-the-art Belfast hub, we broadcast cultural content to over two million households across Ireland via NVTV and its sister stations. Through our ground-floor ArcHive exhibition space, 25 digital workstations, and an inclusive, bilingual framework, we provide a sustainable foundation where local stories find a global stage.

Igniting Next-Generation Talent
Dream Big
This initiative takes digital media workshops directly to pupils aged 13–16 in socially deprived areas of greater Belfast. By demystifying media production, we build the technical confidence that has previously driven participants to top A-level exam grades, while opening doors to future creative careers.
Little Sparks Future Dreams
Back by overwhelming demand, this technology-driven project empowers five- and six-year-old children to become Northern Ireland’s next generation of storytellers. Through puppetry, animation, and digital media, children collaborate to bring their wildest imaginations to life, culminating in special screenings within their own schools.
Digital Training
We are deeply invested in nurturing a diverse creative workforce. From delivering formal apprenticeships for Irish-speaking trainees to running 18-month mentorship paths for underrepresented, neurodiverse, and disabled individuals, we ensure the future of media reflects the fullness of our society.
Art Happens Here: Culture on the Move
Table for Four on Tour
Partnering with Libraries NI, this live, interactive workshop series challenges participants to create art from recycled materials in front of a live audience, sparking vital community conversations about sustainability and climate change.
“Hushhhhh… The Silence of Sewing”
In collaboration with the National Museum of Northern Ireland Folk Park at Cultra, participants will gain rare access to unseen historical archives to master traditional Mountmellick Embroidery. This reflective sewing journey champions mental well-being and eco-friendly crafting, resulting in a communal textile exhibition.
Creative Roots
Partnering with Orchardville, this transformative project provides tailored workshops for young adults with learning difficulties and neurodiversity. By blending life skills with artistic expression, we empower participants to confidently advocate for a greener, more sustainable world.
Celebrating Identity and Human Experience
Life of Change
This deeply moving, mixed-media project reframes the narrative around major female transitions – from puberty and motherhood to menopause and disability. Blending first-hand testimonies with artistic reflection, this exhibition at the City Hospital’s Tower Gallery celebrates the resilience, self-acceptance, and profound renewal that these life stages bring.
Artist Showcase & On The Box
We continue to sustain our local creative ecosystem by archiving the work of visual artists alongside the Royal Ulster Academy and profiling emerging singer-songwriters, breaking down economic barriers to give local talent crucial broadcast exposure.
Rooted in Community
Our volunteer-driven outreach ensures that the arts belong to everyone. Through the Arts & Older People Programme, seniors reclaim outdoor spaces to record and broadcast their own cultural narratives. Through dedicated Ulster-Scots and Irish Language programming, we collaborate with local cultural sectors to preserve linguistic heritage, tell community-driven stories, and offer intensive new-entrant training.
Finally, looking to the horizon, our Future Screens research partnership with Queen’s University and Ulster University explores how AI can be harnessed as a creative storytelling tool, ensuring Ireland’s largest moving-image community archive is preserved to inspire generations to come.
